The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ have reacted to a team of Chinese medical doctors coming to Nigeria to share their experience with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Garba Abari, had made the revelation of the visit on Saturday when he featured on a Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) live programme in Abuja.
He explained that the Chinese medical team would share their experience on how the pandemic was handled in China.
“Whatever information the Chinese medical team made available to NCDC will be filtered and applied to address the peculiar challenges of the country on handling COVID-19 scourge.
“This is a global pandemic and from wherever assistance comes, you cannot reject it.
“For instance, the United States is opening its doors to all volunteers that will come and assist them because they are also getting overwhelmed.
“Despite its fine medical facilities and expertise, US is now saying any form of assistance coming from anywhere that will add value to the fight against COVID-19 is welcome.
“It is not as if the government of Nigeria is not appreciating efforts of its own medical experts. This is the time when Nigeria is proud and appreciating its own medical experts and showcasing its best.

In its reaction, the NUJ called on the government to investigate the outbreak of Coronavirus in relation to the launch of the 5G communication network and also cautioned the government on the visit, while making reference to same visit in Italy.
Reports have it that it was after the visit of a Chinese team of medical doctors in Italy that the coronavirus disease had a spike in the number of people it affected in the European country.
In its statement issued, the NUJ said;
“It is pertinent to plead with the Federal Government to stop this Medical team from coming to Nigeria because of the Italian example where there was an inexplicable spike in Covid 19 related deaths when the Chinese doctors arrived the country. “.
